Tobacco Heritage Trail Recent News Tobacco Heritage Trail Phase I is COMPLETE! Trail maps to access the phase I are provided below: THT Phase I Trail Lawrenceville Section THT Phase I Trail Brodnax to LaCrosse Section Tobacco Heritage Trail Phases II, III & IV have received funding and are currently in the processs of design. The Tobacco Heritage Trail Management Plan is now available on-line. This plan discusses trail rules and regulations, design standards, maintenance, and other policies. The plan is available on this web site under the "Support Info." link at left. South Boston applied to the Virginia Recreational Trails program to obtain a construction grant for a portion of the Tobacco Heritage Trail within South Boston. A map of this section of Tobacco Heritage Trail is also available see the link. THT South Boston Grant Application Map Tobacco Heritage Trail Planning and Construction Sequence Outline The initial site reconnaissance for Phase I of the Tobacco Heritage Trail was conducted in December 2006. The First Community Meeting for Phase I of the Tobacco Heritage Trail was held on February 15th 2007 in Lawrenceville, Virginia. The draft Phase I Tobacco Heritage Trail Master Plan was presented during a planning work session on March 16th 2007 in South Hill, Virginia. The review of the revised Phase I Tobacco Heritage Trail was completed in June 2007 in South Hill, Virginia. The pdf version of the Final Phase I Master Plan is available on this web site in "Trail Maps & Reports" The final design plans of the Phase I Tobacco Heritage Trail has been completed, submitted and approved for construction. The construction of THT Phase I is COMPLETE. The master planning for the complete Tobacco Heritage Trail, The Overall Master Plan began in 2007! Site reconnaissance was conducted in September, October and November of 2007. Tobacco Heritage Trail Overall Master Plan community meetings were conducted on November 27th, 28th and 29th 2007 at Alberta, Boydton, and South Boston, Virginia. Community participation was very good at each meeting. The Final Tobacco Heritage Trail Overall Master Plan has been completed and is now available on this web site, see the trail reports & maps link.
